Are you a hypocrite? It does go both ways...
Val Kilmer's portrayal of the famous Old West gunslinger Doc Holliday came with a classic line "My hypocrisy knows no bounds."
Hypocrisy is overflowing in our country right now. It happens on both sides of the fence, but, from at least my viewpoint, it feels like it is the left who is the most hypocritical and butthurt. There are a LOT of examples that quite clearly prove this. Let's just use the most recent.
During this year’s Super Bowl an advertising campaign called "He Gets Us" was ran by a non-profit Christian group and the backlash has been deafening.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) came unchained and went viral with comments criticizing the ad. She said,
"Something tells me Jesus would *not* spend millions of dollars on Super Bowl ads to make fascism look benign.”
And then the hits kept coming, associating the group with donating millions to roll back abortion and LGBTQ rights. So, let's talk about that.
First off, so what if they are? That is their prerogative. You cannot tell people out of the same mouth that we must accept diversity and then turn around and condemn a different viewpoint. That is hypocrisy.
If a group wants to support something, regardless of if they support a Christian view or a secular view, they have every right in this country to do so. If you don't like it, so be it. But to criticize a group for doing EXACTLY what you are doing - spreading your belief - is the textbook definition of hypocritical.
I have every right to not support or condone abortion or LGBTQ rights just as you have every right to support it. This is where both sides are guilty. Each calling the other out and then crying foul when the other side calls them out.
Here is the bottom line. If you want your position to have merit and be heard, you will put it out there. That is what is happening in this world. We are being bombarded by viewpoints. But that is your right. BUT, you better understand that the opposing view has every right that you have to have to put their viewpoint out there as well. You can't cry for equality and not give equality.
For me, the solution is to not allow any of those viewpoints to be allowed. Go back to advertisements that are for selling a product, not a social/religious viewpoint. That may be a little heavy handed, but it would certainly help.
The left is saying there is a "dark truth" behind the Christian ads. No there isn't. It is just a view that is different than yours. And, again, in all fairness, this tends to be the M.O. from the Left. The Right does it too, but to me it feels like the left thrives off of hypocrisy. They take the 1% and make everyone who does not agree with the 1% the bad guys. There is something evil behind that, in my humble opinion.
It's becoming tiresome that hypocrisy is not addressed. Actually, it's tiresome that hypocrisy is not readily acknowledged. Any sane person with common sense can instantly see that when a complaint comes in pointing a nasty finger at a viewpoint or belief, there is ALWAYS another side to the coin that screams "You are talking out of both sides of your mouth!"
If you want equality, give it...regardless of whether it fits your agenda or not. If you want diversity, be ready to acknowledge the diverse viewpoint even if it goes against your viewpoint.
Anything else is brainwashing and coercion. It is hypocritical.
