Are these Chinese balloons a cause for concern?
Anyone who thinks these Chinese balloon incidents are not cause for concern need to stop a minute reevaluate their understanding.
To put it bluntly, American is ripe for an EMP attack and these high altitude balloons are not only the ideal way to deliver them, but perfect for cover for the Chinese to get a lay of the land and response by our government.
If you don't know what an EMP is, it is a Electromagnetic Pulse. This can be caused naturally by solar flares from the Sun, or man made by the high-altitude detonation of a nuclear device. What it does is damages or destroys electronic devices. This includes everything from your modern car to the nations power grid.
A high-altitude detonation would not even be noticed until everything stopped working. It is different from a ground burst detonation, like the bomb dropped on Hiroshima, in that it is not radioactive but produces a pulse of energy that creates a powerful electromagnetic field capable of short-circuiting a wide range of electronic equipment, particularly computers, satellites, radios, radar receivers and even civilian traffic lights... and our power grid.
If our power grid was permanently destroyed it would be civilization changing. It is said that it would put us back to the early 19th century prior to electricity. People would die. A lot of them. Society would collapse. We rely so much on electricity for basic functions such as water, sanitation, heat, health care, and transportation, that without those the majority of the population would be ill-prepared to deal with the aftermath and life, yes life, without electricity.
The Chinese initially said the first one was a weather balloon that uncontrollably went off course. Since then, a few more have been shot down. But not before they entered US airspace. To think that this was anything other than a deliberate attempt to ascertain our defenses, our resolve and strategy, is naïve at best.
Had ANY of these current balloons carried an EMP device we would have been caught with our pants down. China is not our ally. China is also on course to surpass the United States as the leading global superpower. China also outnumbers, exponentially, the amount of people it has at it's disposal. As of 2019, China commands 18.6% of the worlds population compared to the United States measly 4.3%.
What this means is they could detonate an EMP device 250 miles above Kansas and that would wipe out the entire nations power grid. The entire nation. With no power we would be mostly helpless against a second wave of either a ground nuclear device or Chinese troops invading. We might stave off a few nuclear devices but plenty more would land and detonate. We might be able to stave off an initial Chinese invasion, but we would run out of resources, including troops well before a dent was even made in theirs.
Quite honestly, and EMP detonation means the end of our society. Period. Am I over exaggerating? Not even a little bit. It really would be that bad.
So, still think those Chinese "weather balloons" are not cause for alarm? Think again.
